Medicating a bird is $4 per dose administered.

ALL BIRDS MUST ARRIVE IN A CARRIER THAT YOU WILL LEAVE WITH US.

A credit card is required to make a reservation. Please notify us 48 hours in advance if you need to cancel your reservation. Otherwise there is a 25% cancellation fee unless we can fill the room.

Holiday boarding is a three day minimum. A 25 % deposit is required to hold a reservation. To cancel we must receive notification five days in advance. We will refund your deposit if your slot can be filled.

Pick up outside of regular store hours is available for an additional fee, dependent on staff availability.

We must receive proof of a wellness visit within the last twelve months from an approved vet for either type of room. Psitticosis testing is required for communal boarding. Further testing may be required based on the individual bird’s history. All birds two years old or less must have current polyoma vaccine for communal boarding.

We provide cages. No discount if you choose to bring your own but you are welcome to do so if you feel your bird will be more comfortable.

Night lights will be provided. Please bring a cover if you wish your bird to be covered at night.

We ask that you bring anything you feel will make your bird’s stay more comfortable. PLEASE bring toys, at least two perches, boings, swings, etc. You may want to provide a list of words, phrases or songs your bird can say so we may use them to make him/her feel at home. You may bring a radio or TV (no cable available.) We will provide a well-rounded diet but you are free to bring anything additional you like. Both Roudybush and Harrison’s will be fed in addition to cooked mixes, as well as fresh fruits and vegetables.

Each room has a large viewing window so that your bird can see activity during the day. We will be checking in on them every thirty minutes.
If boarding in the private room you will receive a “report card” with a daily description of your bird’s activity. Weights will be recorded every other day. Birds staying longer than two days will receive showers if approved by you.

· All drop off and pick-ups will be by appointment only.
· Birds in private rooms will be out of their cages on a daily basis unless the bird is un-manageable.
· In communal boarding we will try to have your bird out daily but it is dependent on manageability and the number of birds present. Getting on another bird’s cage can be a recipe for disaster and the birds’ safety is our primary.

BIOSECURITY

Home sitters are always an option when you travel. But there are risks. Someone unfamiliar with your bird, or birds in general, may not recognize signs of illness. Your bird will be alone for the majority of the time. With us they will be monitored for at least ten hours a day. There is always risk when exposing your bird to other birds while boarding. Avian medicine has made great strides but there are still many diseases for which there is no test or cure. The following are measures we take to protect your birds while with us.

· Birds will arrive and leave by appointment only so that no exposure to others will occur in the lobby.
· Veterinary exams and testing are required.
· A UV sterilizer and ionizer will be in each room. HEPA filters will be on the main units and will be changed frequently.
· Foot baths and hand washes will occur each time we exit a room.
· If handling the birds we will wear disposable gowns.
· All trash will remain in the room (contained) until checkout.
· Food and water bowls will be sterilized each use.
· After a room is vacated it will be cleaned ceiling to floor and sterilized.
· All cages, perches and play stands provided by us will be scrubbed, steamed and bleached between uses.
· We use a central vacuum system. The floor attachment will be sanitized between rooms.
· Each room will be swabbed yearly and tested for Psittacine Beak and Feather Disease, (more often if deemed necessary.)

We hope this information will give you peace of mind when placing your feathered companion in our care. Please be assured that we will make every effort to keep your bird happy, healthy and safe while with us.
