Adoption Information

* Please note, we have only listed our adoption policies here. After viewing the adoption policies if you are interested in adopting, require further information or would like to help with a donation, please click on the Adoption link (http://www.companionparrots.org).
Our Adoption site, Companion Parrots Re-homed (CPR) is in the process of applying for 501(c)3 nonprofit status. Foster and permanent homes are always needed. When someone applies, a home visit is scheduled. A minimum of two classes is required. Further education may be required depending on the applicant’s skill level and the particular bird being sought. All our birds have lost at least one home and we do our best to insure its next home is as good a match as possible.

CPR does not purchase birds.
CPR will accept birds donated based on the birds needs and on availability of foster and/or potential adoption homes.
CPR does not breed birds or place any birds into breeding situations.
CPR is cautious about adopting birds into homes with very small children. CPR will not adopt birds into homes with bird-aggressive dogs, cats or other bird-aggressive pets.
Potential adopters are required to attend our Parrots 101 class as well as any other classes deemed necessary.
Potential adopters must complete a copy of our adoption application.
All potential adopters will be interviewed and will receive one or two home visits before being approved for adoption.
Approved adoption applications will be placed on a waiting list if a bird is not currently in our system that would be a good match for the approved adopter.
Only one parrot adoption per home is allowed in any 12-month time period. CPR reserves the right to decline adoptions based on an excessive number of birds already in the home.
Adopters may be required to pay an adoption fee based on fees the bird may have incurred.
Adopted birds are to remain in the home and be treated as a member of the family.
Adopted birds may not be sold, given away, bred, or used for any type of monetary purposes.
Those wishing to adopt a bird will be required to spend hands-on time with their potential adopted bird under supervision before being approved.
As a general rule, we will not place noisy birds such as cockatoos, macaws or amazons in an apartment or condominium.
CPR will not adopt birds solely as companions to other birds.
CPR does not place birds into aviary situations.
Birds must remain in a 100% smoke-free environment.
CPR reserves the right to decline to place a bird in any home that it does not feel would be a good match.
It is required that all birds placed for adoption must receive an annual veterinarian examination.
Adopters must agree to feed a high quality pellet in addition to fruits and vegetables, grains, nuts, etc.
All birds undergo a strict 30-day quarantine; an exam, a CBC, a gram stain. Additional testing is performed on a case by case basis.

Birds we have for adoption...
Bob (or Robert when he is being mischevious) is a male budgie of unknown age. Landing on the shoulder of a gentleman doing his yard work, Bob joined us two months ago. Not hand tame (yet) Bobby LOVES to sing. We are constantly entertained by his songs.

I am a black-capped lory named Sweetie Girl. I possess a HUGE vocabulary and am very active. Must warn you, I am a nectar eater which makes my poops runny and sticky. I LOVE to "projectile poop" and laugh when I hit someone! This makes me high maintenance but I will provide tons of enjoyment in return.
Sweetie Girl is an eighteen year old red lored amazon

Am I not the most handsome male congo african grey you have ever seen? My name is Beau and my life story is quite a long one. I am at least 38 years old and have been through more homes than I care to recall. Along the way I was very friendly but someone abused my friendship so now I am not very trusting. My foster dad has really helped restore my faith in humans but I still have a long way to go. I would really appreciate a patient, loving home that would be willing to work with me on my own terms.

My name is Jake. I am a 14 year old male Catalina macaw. I am very friendly but got too close to my dad. I was very vocal whenever he was home, making it difficult to think straight for the family! By not overbonding I will make a good companion for someone with experience.

Bob's Wife #1 - Bob's Wife #1, 2, 3 Bob has his own little harem. They all enjoy their time with him.

Captain is a 15 year old Congo African Grey. He is extremely playful for a grey and has a large repertoire of sounds.

The Lutino Cockatiel has no name. He was found outdoors. It has taken him a long time to relax but is making great progress. He is very fond of one of Bob's wives.

Riley is a male Senegal that is 4 years old. While he is picky about whom he likes he can be quite sweet. He has a darling, squeaky voice.

The Old Men are two elderly bachelors that were found outdoors separately. Once with us they found good company in each other. One is hand tame and very sweet.

Tooey is a 4 year old Lesser Sulpher Crested Cockatoo. Another picky one that is selective of whom he likes. He LOVES to play and cut up.

My name is Roxanne but you can call me Roxie if you like. I am a four year old Congo African Grey. Once I get to know you I will converse with you. I can mimic any sound after hearing it only once or twice.

You will not find a sweeter companion than me! My name is Sugar Baby and am a nine year old female Senegal. I do tend to get a little stimulated and mess with my feathers but the folks at Parrot U have worked with me and I am much better. I am very quite and love to hang out on your shoulder.

Hi, I am a male cockatiel named Keiko. I am FULL of personality and love to talk. Head scratches are one of my favority things.

This is a bonded pair of conures which were rescued by the previous owner. Due to illness she could no longer keep them. Poe is a Nanday and Gipper (the bald chest) is a Jenday. Both are extremely sweet. You definitely will have conure music in stereo.

Petie is a six year old female peach- front lovebird. George and Felix are three year old males. George is peach-front and Felix is a peach-front/fischer's mix. Petie "rules the roost" with these guys. She is friendly but can be nippy. The guys need patience but can be friendly.

Watch out! I am probably the cutest chick you will ever meet. I bubble over with personality and find everything in life "Yummy." I am a male (don't tell me) 14 year old Senegal named Emily. I am seeking a home where I can receive the attention I deserve.

Hi, I'm Echo, a female Congo African Grey. I tend to get over-attached to a family member but am QUITE picky about which one! If I like you, I love you. I enjoy chit-chatting with my favored individual.

I am a nine year old Congo African grey named Buddy. Everyone at Parrot U says I have a charming and funny personality. Talking and mimicing sounds takes up some of my time but destroying phone books is my passion in life.

My name is Cadbury and I am a male Eleanora (medium Sulpher- Crested) cockatoo. I will be four years old in April. Due to changes in my previous family's situation I am looking for a new home.

Buddy is a 21 year old male Umbrella cockatoo who is very fond of his privacy. He wants to just hang out with you but is very picky about his surroundings.

I am Billy, hear me roar! I really like to be the center of your universe and will let you know it! I need a really understanding home who will work with me to overcome my issues.

My name is Bosley. I am a five year old male Blue and Gold Macaw. I am a huge cuddler and am very proud of my manly bare chest.
